The BT136-600E is a bidirectional triac switch designed for AC power control. It functions like two SCRs back-to-back, allowing current to flow in both directions once a gate pulse is applied. Structurally, it has three terminals (MT1, MT2 and Gate) and comes in a TO-220 through-hole package, which provides heat dissipation for high-voltage switching.
Its sensitive gate means it can be driven by low-current logic signals, so a small trigger current turns it on. Once triggered, the triac latches on and conducts AC until the current falls below its holding level. The BT136-600E is planar passivated for high-voltage ruggedness and exhibits a low holding current, making it stable under light-load conditions.
