NodeMCU ESP32 modules are great for IoT projects. But they have only an onboard antenna only which is good for most common applications. The onboard PCB antenna is optimized for decent performance, compact size, and cost. Modules with an internal antenna provide no option to add an external antenna. If your application requires long-range communication, you will have to add an external antenna to the ESP32 Module. This ESP-WROOM-32U board lets you add an external antenna and extend the range of your ESP32. In a standard ESP32 module, you are limited to using the onboard antenna only.
