HC-06 Bluetooth Module
The HC-06 is a compact wireless serial interface module designed to enable Bluetooth communication between a microcontroller or embedded system and a master Bluetooth device (such as a smartphone, tablet or PC). It implements a transparent UART-to-Bluetooth link, meaning data transmitted into its RX/TX pins is sent wirelessly and received data is output on the serial pins, simplifying integration.
Engineered as a slave-only Bluetooth module operating under the Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) standard, the HC-06 abstracts away much of the complexity of wireless connectivity. Through simple UART commands and default baud rate (often 9600 bps) the module can pair with a master device, authenticate using a default pass-key (often “1234”) and then forward traffic transparently over the link.
Owing to its small physical size, minimal external components and UART interface, the HC-06 finds wide use in hobby electronics, embedded systems and IoT projects. It draws modest current, uses the 2.4 GHz ISM band (2.402-2.480 GHz), and allows devices without native Bluetooth capability to gain wireless serial connectivity. The simplicity of wiring and communication means it can often be dropped into an existing system with minimal redesign.
