The INS8250N is a versatile Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) designed to function as a serial data input/output interface in a microcomputer system. This programmable communications IC, housed in a classic 40-pin DIP package, is responsible for serial-to-parallel conversion of data received from a peripheral or modem, and parallel-to-serial conversion of data received from the CPU.
