The Kyoritsu KEW 3005A is a handheld digital instrument designed primarily for measuring insulation resistance and continuity in electrical circuits. Encased in a durable housing with protective finger guards and fittings for a strap belt, it features a liquid crystal display and a 30-segment bar graph to indicate readings. Powered by eight AA batteries, it delivers test voltages of 250 V, 500 V, or 1000 V DC, enabling users to verify insulation integrity up to 1999 MΩ. In continuity mode, it applies a test current to detect resistance as low as 0.20 Ω, with a measuring range up to 1999 Ω, and can also display AC voltages up to 600 V .

A live circuit warning indicator and buzzer alert the operator if the circuit under test is energized, enhancing safety. After insulation testing, built-in auto discharge circuitry removes residual charge from capacitive components automatically, and an audible confirmation indicates when it is safe to touch the circuit. The instrument’s microprocessor-controlled dual integration system ensures stable, repeatable measurements even under varying temperature and battery conditions.
