The PT2272-M4 is a CMOS remote-control decoder IC designed to pair with PT2262 encoders to receive and decode serial address/data code words. It focuses on reliability and simplicity: address pins accept tri-state settings so systems can use many unique codes, and the device validates incoming frames before enabling outputs. The M4 variant provides four momentary data outputs, making it suitable for small control tasks where each button press should only activate outputs while the signal is present.

Internally the PT2272 decodes 12 AD bits (address + data) followed by a sync bit, compares the decoded address to the pin-set address, and after two consecutive matching frames drives the appropriate data outputs and raises a VT (Valid Transmission) flag. Oscillation timing is set with a single external resistor, so the decoder can be matched to PT2262-based encoders without complex clock circuitry. The momentary output behavior ensures outputs reset automatically when transmissions stop.
