SW-520D Vibration Sensor
The SW-520D is a mechanical vibration (shake) sensor/switch designed to provide a simple, reliable on/off response when subjected to motion or impact. Housed in a small sealed body, the device uses a moving internal contact (a spring/ball or similar element) that closes or opens a circuit when shaken, making it ideal for basic detection of knocks, taps, jolts or continuous vibration. The sensor is intended as a low-cost interface between a mechanical disturbance and an electronic circuit, producing a clean digital signal that microcontrollers or alarm circuits can read.
Mechanically compact, the SW-520D is built for straightforward mounting and wiring; its two terminals allow direct connection to inputs or to simple conditioning circuits. The part is tolerant of repetitive actuation and is designed so that contact closure occurs predictably with defined physical motion. The datasheet notes that heat-shrink tubing is not temperature resistant on this part, so installation should allow for the component’s thermal limits.
The sensor supports a practical operating temperature window suited to many indoor and equipment environments, and it’s optimized for low-power, intermittent applications rather than continuous heavy current switching. The PDF specifies an operating temperature range of −20 °C to +80 °C, which frames typical uses in consumer electronics, alarm devices and light industrial monitoring.
Features:
- Mechanical vibration (shake) switch providing a discrete on/off output.
- Small, sealed body suited for compact assemblies.
- Simple two-terminal connection for easy wiring to controllers or alarm circuits.
- Rated for operation across a wide ambient temperature range (−20 °C to +80 °C).
- Note in the datasheet: heat-shrink tubing is not temperature resistant — avoid high-temperature sleeving at the termination.
