T265 Intel RealSense Tracking Camera
The T265 Intel RealSense Tracking Camera is a compact and powerful tracking solution designed to provide accurate and reliable 6 degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) positional tracking for robotics, drones, and other mobile devices. It leverages Intel’s proprietary Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) technology, combining input from dual fisheye cameras and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to track position and orientation in real-time. The T265 features an Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ 2 VPU, enabling on-board processing of the tracking data without relying heavily on a host system’s computational power. This makes it ideal for low-power and edge computing applications.
The camera is designed for inside-out tracking, meaning it does not require any external sensors or markers to determine its location. Its small form factor and USB 2.0/3.0 interface allow for easy integration into a variety of platforms. The T265 excels in environments where GPS is unreliable or unavailable, such as indoors or in urban canyons, providing consistent tracking performance even under challenging lighting and motion conditions.
Although the T265 has been discontinued, it remains popular among developers and researchers for its ease of use, plug-and-play functionality with the RealSense SDK 2.0, and its ability to enhance autonomous navigation and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) applications.
Features:
- 6DoF Positional Tracking where Provides six degrees of freedom (translation and rotation) for precise motion tracking.
- Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) where Combines data from stereo fisheye cameras and an IMU for robust, real-time tracking.
- On-Device Processing where Powered by the Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ 2 VPU, offloading processing from the host system.
- Inside-Out Tracking where No need for external beacons, GPS, or markers—fully self-contained tracking.
- Global Shutter Cameras where Minimizes motion blur and enhances performance in dynamic environments.
- Compact and Lightweight where Small footprint makes it ideal for integration into mobile platforms like robots and drones.
