The UNI‑T UT262A is a compact, clamp‑type non‑contact phase detector engineered for rapid, safe verification of three‑phase AC systems without direct contact with live conductors. Its slim, ergonomic jaws (1.6 – 16 mm opening) allow effortless attachment around wires of various gauges, enabling electricians to identify phase rotation and presence of voltage in cramped panels or cable bundles.

Upon energization, the UT262A automatically powers on and begins monitoring the three phases. Four LEDs illuminate in sequence clockwise for positive phase rotation or counter‑clockwise for negative while an internal buzzer provides audible confirmation. If any phase is absent, the corresponding LED remains dark, aiding in rapid missing‑phase diagnosis. After three minutes of inactivity, the detector shuts off to conserve its replaceable R6 batteries.

Beyond phase‑sequence checks, the UT262A detects live conductors, assists in tracing circuit breaks, and supports basic voltage verification (70 – 600 V AC, 40 – 70 Hz). Its lightweight (≈180 g) yet durable plastic housing and straightforward LED–buzzer interface make it an indispensable tool for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of motors, switchgear, and distribution panels.
