The UNI‑T UT262C is a clamp‑style, non‑contact phase detector tailored for three‑phase AC systems up to 1 kV. Its jaw opening of 10 – 40 mm accommodates larger conductors and bus bars, enabling safe, hands‑free phase‑sequence verification without exposing users to live parts. The robust hinge and textured grip ensure stable clamping and one‑handed operation even in crowded switchgear racks.

Once clamped around the conductor, the UT262C instantly powers on and assesses phase rotation. Four LEDs illuminate in clockwise order and emit an intermittent tone for positive sequence; they reverse and produce a steady tone for negative sequence. Missing phases are signaled by an unlit LED, facilitating swift troubleshooting of open legs. After three minutes of inactivity, the unit auto‑shuts off to conserve its two R6 batteries.

Beyond rotation checks, the UT262C flags live conductors and broken circuits, and serves as a basic AC voltage detector (70 – 1000 V AC, 40 – 70 Hz). Its compact (70 × 75 × 30 mm), lightweight (≈ 180 g) design and simple LED‑buzzer interface make it ideal for industrial maintenance, motor installations, and distribution panel audits, eliminating the need for bulky testers.
