UTC339 Quad Differential Comparator IC
The UTC339 is a compact quad differential comparator designed to run from a single supply over a wide voltage range, making it suitable for many low-power and mixed-signal systems. Each of the four independent comparator channels accepts inputs that include ground in the common-mode range, so the device integrates easily into single-supply designs without additional level shifting. Its open-collector outputs allow wired-AND connections and easy interfacing to TTL, DTL and CMOS logic levels, giving designers flexibility for digital signalling and interrupt-style outputs.
The chip emphasizes low supply current (typical ICC ~0.8–1.1 mA) and low input bias current, which helps preserve battery life in portable applications. It offers low input offset and modest gain suitable for threshold detection, zero-crossing, and simple waveform conditioning tasks. Output stages are designed for reliable sinking with low saturation voltage to drive logic inputs directly or through pull-up resistors to the chosen logic rail.
Physically available in DIP-14, SOP-14 and TSSOP-14 packages, the UTC339 is straightforward to prototype with (DIP) and compact for production (SOP/TSSOP). Typical use cases include threshold comparators, window detectors, pulse shaping, and supervisory circuits where inexpensive, low-power, and TTL/CMOS-compatible comparators are required. The device’s broad supply range (2–36V) and open-collector outputs make it a flexible building block in analog and mixed-signal boards.
