Which battery do you need?
| Type | Voltage | Rechargeable | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Li-ion 18650 | 3.6 or 3.7 V nominal, 4.2 V when full | Yes | Power banks, robots and projects that need a lot of capacity in a small cell |
| LiPo (lithium polymer) | 3.7 V nominal per cell, 4.2 V when full | Yes | Thin or flat packs, drones, small portable devices |
| NiMH (AA, AAA) | 1.2 V per cell | Yes | Devices that normally take alkaline AA or AAA cells |
| Alkaline (AA, AAA, 9 V) | 1.5 V per cell (9 V for the 9 V battery) | No | Remote controls, clocks, low-power devices and test equipment |
| Coin cell (CR2032) | 3 V | No | Memory backup, small sensors and key fobs |
| Sealed lead-acid | Usually 6 V or 12 V | Yes | Alarms, UPS units and backup power |
Quick rules
- Charge a battery only with a charger made for its chemistry. A Li-ion or LiPo cell charges to 4.2 V per cell, and NiMH uses a different method.
- Do not charge a CR2032 or any other non-rechargeable cell.
- A single-cell charging module such as the TP4056 charges one Li-ion or LiPo cell at a time. Modules sold “with protection” add over-discharge and short-circuit protection.
- For several cells in series (2S, 3S and more), use a protection board (BMS) that matches the number of cells: for example a 3S board for three cells and 12.6 V when full.
- Do not mix old and new cells, or cells of different types or capacities, in one pack.
- Check polarity before you connect a battery, and never short its terminals.
- Check the capacity printed on the listing. Today a good 18650 cell is roughly up to about 3500 mAh, so a much larger number on a small cell is not realistic.
- If a cell gets hot, swells or smells while charging or in use, stop using it and keep it away from flammable things.

Frequently asked questions
Can I charge a Li-ion cell with a TP4056 module?
Yes, for one Li-ion or LiPo cell. The module charges a single cell up to 4.2 V, with a default charge current of about 1 A on the common boards. For packs of two or more cells in series, use a charger and a BMS made for that number of cells.
Is an 18650 battery the same as the battery in a laptop or power bank?
Many laptop batteries and power banks are built from 18650 cells inside a protected pack. A loose 18650 cell has no protection circuit unless the listing says so, so it needs a charger or a protection board.
Do you deliver batteries and chargers across Egypt?
Yes. Orders to Alexandria placed before 2:00 PM are usually delivered the same day, and orders to other governorates are usually delivered the next day. These are typical times, not a guarantee. Shipping cost depends on the governorate and is shown at checkout. See Shipping and Delivery.
Can I return batteries and chargers?
Electronic products cannot be returned or exchanged once opened or used, except for confirmed manufacturing defects. Defects must be reported within 3 days of delivery. Full rules: Refund and Returns Policy.
Do you sell batteries and chargers in bulk to schools, universities or companies?
Yes. Contact customer service on +2 0248813824, WhatsApp +20 121 198 1188 or info@makerselectronics.com and you will be connected to the corporate customers team.
Can I visit the store?
