Overview
Nicla Sense ME is the smallest board developed by Arduino equipped with a range of the latest Bosch environmental and motion sensors. The module is based on the nRF52832 ARM Cortex M4 chip clocked at 64 MHz with 512 kB of Flash memory, 64 kB of RAM and 2 MB of SPI Flash and 2 MB of QSPI embedded memory. The Nicla Sense ME features the Bosch BHI260AP, BMP390, BMM150, and BME688 embedded sensors. Bluetooth LE 4.2 is responsible for wireless communication and with the use of a Li-Pol battery, the module can work as a standalone device.
- BHI260AP. Intelligent sensor equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) with 6-axis IMU (3-axis accelerometer + 3-axis gyroscope) for motion detection, powered by Synopsys DesignWare ARC EM4 32-bit processor.
- BMP390. High performance pressure sensor with a range from 300 hPa to 1250 hPa with low drift.
- BMM150. A low-noise magnetometer measuring ± 1300 μT in the X, Y axes and ± 2500 μT in the Z axis.
- BME688. Environmental sensor measuring pressure, temperature and humidity. It also features an intelligent gas sensor that helps determine the air quality index by detecting a wide range of gases, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Designed to easily analyze motion and the surrounding environment – hence the “M” and “E” in the name – it measures rotation, acceleration, pressure, humidity, temperature, air quality and CO2 levels by introducing completely new Bosch Sensortec sensors on the market.
Its tiny size and robust design make it suitable for projects that need to combine sensor fusion and AI capabilities on the edge, thanks to a strong computational power and low-consumption combination that can even lead to standalone applications when battery operated.
Part of Arduino Pro’s new Nicla family of modular, intelligent products that are easy to use, cost effective, versatile and accessible, the Sense ME has a new, tiny form factor that is also compatible with the Arduino MKR and Portenta ranges.
