Cytron MDDS60 Smart Drive DC Motor Driver Dual Channels 60Amp 7V-45V
The Cytron MDDS60 Smart Drive Duo-60 is a robust dual-channel DC motor driver engineered to simplify high-current motor control for mobile robotics and similar projects. Built around a microcontroller and high-current MOSFETs, the board delivers quiet switching and smart protection while presenting a straightforward physical interface: terminal blocks for motors and power, DIP switches for input mode selection, status LEDs, and on-board test buttons.
Designed with practical prototyping in mind, the MDDS60 accepts multiple control paradigms – RC, analog/PWM, simplified serial, or packetized serial – letting builders connect hobby radio receivers, potentiometer/joystick front-ends, or microcontrollers without redesigning wiring. Its on-board fan and thermal management reduce the need for external cooling in many setups, while clear LED feedback and tactile test buttons make bench-checking and troubleshooting quick.
The unit emphasizes reliability under load: it supports a broad motor supply range and high continuous/peak currents, includes under/over-voltage and temperature protections, and is packaged with top and bottom covers for safer mechanical integration. Its blend of power, protections and flexible inputs makes the MDDS60 a practical core for differential-drive robots or any project needing compact, heavy-duty dual motor control.
Features:
- Bi-directional control for dual brushed DC motor.
- Support motor voltage from 10V to 45V.

Input Mode:
RC INPUT MODE:
NOTE: The RC transmitter must be ON before power up the SmartDriveDuo-60.
RC Mode with RC Transmitter/Receiver (Mixed), DIP switch
RC Mode with Microcontroller (Independent Both), DIP switch
ANALOG/PWM INPUT MODE:
NOTE: The Analog/PWM signal to stop the motor (2.5V if Sign-Magnitude mode is off,
0V otherwise) must be available when the SmartDriveDuo-60 is turned on. Else, the driver
will show Input Error until the correct signal is available.
Analog input mode with Joystick board (Mixed), DIP switch
PWM input mode with microcontroller (Independent Both), DIP switch
SERIAL SIMPLIFIED MODE:
Simplified Serial mode with microcontroller (9600bps), DIP switch
SERIAL PACKETIZED MODE:
NOTE:
1. When the driver is powered up and waiting for the header byte, the error LED will
blink and indicate that there is input error.
2. SmartDriveDuo-60 may take up to 500ms to start up after power is applied. Sending
the header byte for auto baud during this time period may cause undesirable results.
Please allow one-second delay between applying power and sending the header byte.
Packetized Serial mode with microcontroller (Address = 0), DIP switch
