MQ-2 Multi-Gas & Smoke Detection Sensor Module

The MQ-2 Smoke Sensor Module is a semiconductor-based gas sensor designed to detect a variety of flammable gases and smoke, including propane, methane, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and LPG. It is particularly sensitive to propane and smoke, making it suitable for applications such as domestic gas leakage alarms, industrial flammable gas alarms, portable gas detectors, and air quality monitoring systems. The module operates on a 5V power supply and features both analog and digital outputs, allowing for flexible integration into various systems. Its simple drive circuit and adjustable sensitivity via an onboard potentiometer make it user-friendly for both beginners and professionals. With a long operational life of 10 years and low power consumption, the MQ-2 is a reliable choice for ensuring safety and environmental monitoring, making it compatible with most of the commissioning modules including Raspberry Pi and Arduino.

The digital output D0:

With the help of placed on the reverse side of the board, potentiometer, set is the threshold, exceeding of which, causes the output D0 changing from a high to a low status. The pin D0 can be linked directly with a microcontroller or commissioning set, including Arduino, or for example, a module with a buzzer, which will signal a too low or too high level of unwanted gases in the air.

Analog output A0:

The sensor has an analog output A0, which must be connected to the pin of the converter A/D (analog input in Arduino). This will allow you to measure the proportional voltage signal and more accurately determine the concentration.
