Makers Electronics sells light, infrared and colour sensors for Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi projects in Alexandria, with delivery across Egypt: photoresistors (LDR), infrared receivers, line followers, colour sensors and flame sensors. All prices are in EGP, and the live price and stock are on each product page.

Which light or infrared sensor do you need?
| Sensor | What it does | Output | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photoresistor (LDR) | Its resistance drops as the light gets stronger | Analog, with a fixed resistor as a voltage divider | Day and night detection, automatic lights |
| IR receiver (38 kHz, VS1838 and TSOP type) | Reads infrared signals modulated at 38 kHz, such as a TV remote | Digital pulses | Remote-control projects |
| IR photodiode | Detects infrared light and needs an amplifier or comparator circuit | Analog | Custom IR links and detectors |
| Line tracker (TCRT5000, 3 and 4 channel modules, QTR-8RC) | An infrared emitter and a detector measure how much light a surface reflects | Digital or analog | Line-following robots and edge detection at short range |
| Colour sensor (TCS3200) | Filtered photodiodes measure red, green, blue and clear light | A frequency that the board counts | Colour sorting and colour recognition at close range |
| Flame sensor module | Detects infrared light given off by a flame | Digital and analog | Hobby flame detection and robot projects |
Quick rules
- An LDR gives a relative light level, not a calibrated measurement in lux. Use it to tell bright from dark.
- An LDR needs a resistor in series to make a voltage divider: the board then reads the voltage on an analog pin.
- A 38 kHz IR receiver ignores steady infrared light. It only responds to infrared that is switched on and off at its frequency, which is what a remote control sends.
- Sunlight and bright lamps contain a lot of infrared and can blind IR sensors. Shield the sensor or test it in the real lighting.
- Line trackers and colour sensors work at a short distance from the surface: fix them at the height written on the product page.
- The flame sensor is a hobby module and not a certified fire alarm. Do not rely on it to protect people or property.

Frequently asked questions
Can an LDR measure light in lux?
Not accurately. An LDR changes its resistance with light, but the value depends on the exact part and the circuit, so it is good for bright or dark detection and not for calibrated measurements.
Why does my IR receiver not react to a normal infrared LED?
A 38 kHz receiver only responds to infrared that is switched on and off about 38,000 times a second, like a remote control. A steady infrared LED is ignored.
Which sensor should I use for a line-following robot?
A reflective infrared line tracker, such as the TCRT5000 modules or a multi-channel array. They tell dark from light surfaces at a short distance. Adjust the height and the sensitivity for your track.
Do you deliver light and infrared sensors across Egypt?
Yes. Orders to Alexandria placed before 2:00 PM are usually delivered the same day, and orders to other governorates are usually delivered the next day. These are typical times, not a guarantee. Shipping cost depends on the governorate and is shown at checkout. See Shipping and Delivery.
Can I return light and infrared sensors?
Electronic products cannot be returned or exchanged once opened or used, except for confirmed manufacturing defects. Defects must be reported within 3 days of delivery. Full rules: Refund and Returns Policy.
Do you sell light and infrared sensors in bulk to schools, universities or companies?
Yes. Contact customer service on +2 0248813824, WhatsApp +20 121 198 1188 or info@makerselectronics.com and you will be connected to the corporate customers team.
Can I visit the store?
Yes: 158 Elhorya St., Elibrahymia, Alexandria, Egypt. Saturday to Thursday 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, Friday 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
